The only money x-fer tool most sites ever need |
One group of scripts i particularly like and gonna use on
this article once i finish writing it using the DOS SHELL
editor - will transform everything that is currently in text
( txt ) format into HTML plus add all sorts of neat effects
and visitor tracking scripts with page specific information
all in one clean sweep using ( bat or btm ) batch processing
naturally along with the power of awk programming language and
sed stream editor for hands off editing.
Another set of scripts i enjoy using together in batch mode
are a set of scripts i wrote to create web content on the fly.
This allows me to scoop URL addresses off the web in real time
while i'm browsing and writing on some subject or another.
Later the whole thing is quite a mess with incomplete links
like: www.xyz.com or http://www.xyz.com or HREF="http://...
As you can see this is bothersome and will create broken
links since for these links to be visable on web pages they
by nature cannot have the proper full format ( in which case
they are clickable and hidden links ).
It's called sed-cuts.bat and can download it here
It's extreemly fast and effective in creating we site content on the fly.
Using my script tools, they correct this mess up for me and
produce nice web pages along with my article and links to
various other related material on the web.
An example of such a website i created can be found at:
Note, the link above to my site was beautifully adjusted from
simple quick URL text format, into HTML along with the
preceeding bullet added for hi-liting.
Normaly such a huge site > 60K ( no pictures )and when fully loaded
with photographs on your system can reach a content of 6M Bytes
could have taken a week to produce. It took me 3 hours of my time
using my scripting tools which i had of course to first create.
Yet another script i'm proud of is one that without editing a single
one of my hundreds of web pages, actually inserts a different piece
of java script code on each and every one of my website pages to allow
for a remote provider of visitor movement monitoring and tracking.
Our ISP no longer allows us to do SHELL programing or remote CGI
scripting on our web pages due to security concerns.
So normally, it would take days to individually copy the javascript
code from their support software to each and every web page we have.
Just imagine how time consuming it is to type in all the spec's. for
each and every webpage, downloading it, opening that web page and
inserting it into the file. Then uploading that page to your ISP.
Well, my scripts i designed to do the whole 9 yards including create
the script for each page ( unique for each but follows a rule based
logic ). It does this for a few hundred web pages in about 10 minutes!
the only thing left to do is mass upload all our web sites via FTP to
our ISP!
