Please note that this unofficial site has no connection with the composer's legacy. This listing is limited to all legal CD releases containing a minimum of 20 minutes of original music by Delerue. As an audiophile and a long time fan of Delerue, I wish to present an informed vision of his output available on CD. My admiration for the composer doesn't prevent me from being critical of his works and the record companies which released them. So if you want unconditional praise and leniency, this place is not for you. Not surprisingly, I have become myself a CD producer who has released many compositions by Georges Delerue, in their original form or as new recordings, which of course I do not comment on or rate. Sometimes a low rating for a CD is not a judgement on the music, but on the work of the label that released it. CDs are first made to be listened to and not collected as one would postcards or stamps. If a label carelessly spoils a valuable score, it must be pointed out, even if their product comes with luxurious packaging and extensive liner notes. This said, I'm not trying to put any record label at a disadvantage; I am the first one to applaud and recommend a fine release, wherever it comes from. Here and there, you will find some graphics showing how the sound of different versions of a same music has been mastered. They confirm what the ear can detect.
