Solisia are a melodic metal band from Italy and their first full length album ‘Ordinary Fate’ contains a collection of very well crafted tunes. The album was recorded at Fear Studios in Italy with engineer Simone Mularoni, but all the producing and arranging was done by the band. I guess they knew what they were doing because all of the songs on this album are quite outstanding.

Solisia's album is wonderful! There are a variety of styles on the album, including power metal, progressive rock, and some slower darker songs as well. I find this makes the album really interesting and it really kept my attention. Guitarist Gianluca Quinto has blessed this album with some top notch work. His melodic intros are a feast for the ears and the bridges are mind blowing. There aren’t many solos, but they are very tasteful and not just a big shred fest. The slower ballad “Take You With Me” actually has the best solo, and it’s very creative and dynamic! Gianluca’s guitar rhythms provide a nice crunchy metal touch to the songs. The melodic vocals are catchy and alluring, and Marilena Stigliano actually has a very unique, lower voice and a darkish style which separates her from many of the other vocalists out there. It’s very unfortunate that she has left the band, but I’m told that there is hope for a suitable replacement. The keyboard arrangements are quite good as well, and they provide a good melodic base to the songs.

The songs ‘Ordinary Fate’ and ‘Lightning Reality’ are downright thrill rides that just never let up, and both songs have intros that are pure metal! I love the way the song ‘Inner Will’ just seems to escalate with excitement, building up to one of the most exhilarating bridges I’ve ever heard. Pure metal magic!

I have enjoyed listening to this album very much! I would definitely have to say it’s one of the more noteworthy releases of 2010. I’m sure Solisia’s next album will be even more exciting and I really hope they can find a singer to match the quality of music that this band has to offer.
