Six Daily Essentials
To a Healthier Life

Nutritionists and other health professionals will tell you that there are six daily essentials your body needs to function at its peak. If you want to have more energy and live a longer, healthier life, these daily essentials should be you foundation.

1) Antioxidants. We need a powerful antioxidant to protect our bodies from the free radicals that are trying to age and weaken us. It takes an available electron to satisfy a free radical and stop its destructive tendencies. Antioxidants donate electrons to free radicals to protect us from their potential damage. Health professionals now believe that free radicals are primarily responsible for rapid aging and many of the degenerative conditions that are so prevalent today. A daily dose of antioxidant power is one of the most significant steps we can take for optimum health.

2) Vitamins. The vitamins our bodies absorb best are found in whole foods. By consuming whole food nutrition, we can safely fill in the gaps left by even the healthiest diet. The vitamins found in fruits, vegetables, algae and other foods are part of a nutrient complex. Vitamins found in this complex structure are optimally absorbed, utilized and retained by our bodies. It is important to make nutrient dense foods a major part of our diet and supplement regimen to ensure adequate levels of vitamins, in their best possible form.

3) Minerals. Our bodies require minerals for energy, strong bones, and for the health of all our muscles and organs. Unfortunately, as our soil has become depleted of minerals, so have we. Our bodies need more minerals, and chelated minerals are the preferred choice. These minerals are bound to protein molecules that bring them into the bloodstream and enhance their absorption.

4) Enzymes. Enzymes have been called the "sparks of life" because they are critical to the reactions that take place in our bodies. One of our body's top priorities is to break down our foods, turning them into energy and delivering their nutrients to our cells. If we do not have the enzymes necessary for these processes, our energy level and overall health can suffer. Due to our diet of cooked and processed foods, we must supplement with plant enzymes to aid in our digestive processes and relieve our bodies of this burden if we want to achieve optimum health.

5) Probiotics. Several pounds of "good" bacteria live in the colon of a healthy person. Unfortunately, many of us harbor more "bad" organisms than "good." This imbalance can cause symptoms of indigestion, malabsorption of nutrients, and the possibility of yeast overgrowth. These "good" bacteria play an important role in protecting our bodies from damaging organisms, and they participate in the digestion and absorption of our foods. Supplementing with beneficial bacteria is essential to maintaining a balance in our digestive tract that promotes overall health.

6) Wetter water. The ability of water to wet foods determines its ability to deliver nutrients to our cells and flush out toxins. The water we drink may not be wet enough to act as an efficient delivery agent because its surface tension is too high. Think of an insect walking across the water. It doesn't sink because the surface tension of the water is holding it up. That same force can actually keep nutrients out of our cells the same way it keeps the insect out of the water. Our cells must absorb the nutrients we take in if we want to reap their benefits. That is why it is so important to consume water that has a reduced surface tension - wetter water.
