While taking care of your Spirit, you must also take care of your Body!
.
.Your Spirit and your Body, both should be healthy and balanced. You need your Spirit to cultivate your spiritual growth, you need your Body to carry that inner Spirit for your noble goals until its end. The Bible says: "your Body is the Temple of God", it means, your body has a living Spirit in it, we must keep both the Spirit and Body as clean and as healthy as possible.

Unfortunately, for some sick or handicapped people, due to their physical limitations, they cannot demand or compare their health to the rest of the healthy people, however, they can still develop their Spirits to do much of the spiritual work, and by improving their physical body, they can still reach and enjoy a higher level of good health . Fortunately, if God gave us a good physical health, we must keep it healthy as much as we could in order to achieve more tasks that God has assigned to everyone of us. Below, it is only a tiny bit of a vast health knowledge information out there, by understanding it, your health will be remarkably improved.

What vitamins are?

Vitamins are substances which, in small amounts, are necessary to sustain life. They must be obtained from food as they are either not made in the body at all, or are not made in sufficient quantities for growth, vitality and well-being. A deficiency of a particular vitamin causes disease symptoms which can only be cured by that vitamin.

Vitamins are chemically unrelated substances and all are organic. Organic substances are those that contain carbon and come from materials that are living, such as plants and animals, or that were once living, for example petroleum or coal.

It is impossible to sustain life without all the essential vitamins.

What vitamins do?

Vitamins have many functions and influence the health of nearly every organ in the body. Their combination with other substances such as minerals, proteins and enzymes brings about certain chemical reactions. Individual vitamins have specific functions which vary widely and can overlap. They are involved in growth, the ability to produce healthy offspring and the maintenance of health. They play a role in metabolism, enabling the body to use other essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins and minerals. Vitamins are important for a normal appetite, in digestion, mental alertness and resistance to bacterial infections.

In addition to satisfying the body’s daily needs and preventing deficiency diseases, vitamins have several therapeutic effects. For example, niacin can be used to lower cholesterol and vitamin A derivatives can be used to treat acne. Large doses of vitamins may slow, or even reverse many diseases previously thought an inevitable part of aging, such as cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, impaired immunity, nerve degeneration and other chronic health problems.

There are other substances whose vitamin status has not been established. Some researchers consider these to be vitamins but this is not generally accepted by the medical community. Such substances include choline, inositol, para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and coenzyme Q10.

Vitamins are usually divided into two categories: fat soluble and water soluble.

Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat soluble. They require an adequate supply of minerals and fats to be absorbed in the digestive system and are stored in the liver. The remaining vitamins are water soluble with any excess being excreted in the urine. However, over dose of any Vitamins could cause some undesirable side effects as well, take with caution.

The ABCs of Vitamins

Your body gets its vitamin supply from the food you eat, and a few, such as Vitamin D, can be manufactured by the body. In most cases, a well balanced diet will provide all the nutrition a healthy body needs. But, if you are like most people, you simply may not have the time or know-how to make sure you and your family are getting all the nutrients you need.

In addition, we tend to eat the foods we like most, more often and with the high cost of foods today we may buy less expensive substitutes that might not be as good for us.

A Dietary Vitamin Supplement is important because it assures that, on a daily basis, your body receives adequate amounts of essential vitamins and nutrients.

Vitamin A is essential for the health of your eyes and is important for keeping the skin, eyes, and inner linings of the body healthy and resistant to infection. It is also needed for the growth and maintenance of your bones, glands, teeth, nails and hair. Caution: Vitamin A, high doses during pregnancy can cause birth defects. Also, doses of 25,000 International Units a day can cause severe liver injury, headaches and joint pain.

Vitamin B or the B-Complex Vitamins generally serve as part of an enzyme system concerned with the metabolic process of providing energy from foods along with the metabolism of protein, fat and carbohydrates.

Vitamin C has not only been reported helpful in fighting the common cold but is also important for the health of our teeth and gums. It also assists in the production of collagen and in strengthening the blood vessels to help prevent internal bleeding. Caution: Vitamin C, doses higher than 1,000 milligrams a day can cause diarrhea and kidney stones. However, you may take 500 mg every two or three days.

Vitamin E is the "anti-aging" vitamin. It helps prevent cell oxidation, the principal villain in the aging process. Recent research recommends Vitamin E for people with high blood-fat levels - and that's most of us. It isn't too late to begin taking Vitamin E now. Caution: High doses of Vitamin E cause bleeding in people taking blood thinners. So can bromelain, a pineapple enzyme used as a digestive aid. If you are taking vitamin E, avoid taking Aspirin within the next 24 hours.

Multiple Vitamins are great when you're looking for a supplement that contains several nutrients that can be taken all at the same time in one small tablet or soft gel. However, if you are allergic to Milk, Sea-food or Alcohol, you may be allergic to Multiple Vitamins. If you have developed skin rash after taking Multiple Vitamins, you are certainly allergic to it. Stop taking the Multiple Vitamins, take individual Vitamins instead, and find out which vitamin is the cause of your allergic reaction, it could be any one of them (A, B, C, D, E, or others).

Antioxidants are helpful in protecting our normal intakes of Vitamins C, E, Beta Carotene, Selenium and other sources of nutrients from oxidation. Think of it in terms of assisting as an internal anti pollutant.

.
Note: Overdose of any vitamins or minerals can produce side effects. Vitamin C should not be taken together with Vitamin E at the same time, and it shouldn't be taken with empty stomach especially when taking Potassium. In principle, all vitamins or minerals should be taken alone and at least 30 minutes apart from each other.

Vitamin A or D should not be taken for a long period of time. (Vitamin D: Consuming for several months doses 10 times the daily recommended allotment of 10 micrograms can cause dangerously high calcium levels and lead to kidney damage. Early symptoms are vomiting and increased thirst.)

Iron: One of the most frequent causes of fatal poisonings in children who take supplements meant for adults. High doses in adults also are linked to heart disease.

Selenium: Supplements of 5 to 50 MG (milligrams) a day can cause nausea, loss of hair and nails and nerve damage. Ideal dose for adult is 150 to 200 MCG per day.

Vitamin B is not recommended for people who have conditions such as heart-burn, constipation or severe acne (skin) problems. More detailed information will follow, keep on reading.

Niacin (B3) is not recommended for people who have High Blood Pressure. Niacin may increase Blood Pressure suddenly and it should not be taken with any other Vitamins especially the vitamin E. If you think you need Niacin, consult your physician first.

Since Vitamin E and also Omega-3 fatty acids tends to decrease blood clotting somewhat, HEMOPHILIACS SHOULD NOT TAKE SUPPLEMENTAL VITAMIN E OR OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS EXCEPT UNDER THE CARE OF A QUALIFIED PHYSICIAN. THE SAME CAUTION APPLIES TO ANYONE WITH A RHEUMATIC HEART CONDITION.

Selenium is essential in the trace quantities listed herein. However, selenium is toxic at significantly higher doses which, therefore, should be avoided. Zinc, chromium, and copper are quite safe at the doses present in typical supplements.

Vitamin C, as noted previously, is not toxic at any known dosage but large dosages may cause intestinal or stomach distress and/or diarrhea and kidney stone, as previously noted.

Although the B-complex vitamins are generally acknowledged as safe even in large quantities, there is some question about very high intakes of niacin and B6. Therefore, I recommend limiting daily intake of niacin and B6 to 50 to 100 mg each. Incidentally, niacin can cause a temporary burning sensation called "niacin flush" in some people. The antioxidants and other nutrients discussed in this essay are food components, not drugs. Except for the few qualifications specifically listed herein, they should be both safe and effective in the dosage ranges suggested and are tolerated well by most people.

However, ALMOST ANY FOOD CAN CAUSE AN ALLERGIC REACTION IN SOME PEOPLE. THEREFORE, ANYONE WHO DECIDES TO GO ON ANY NUTRIENT SUPPLEMENTATION REGIMEN PROBABLY SHOULD START WITH RELATIVELY LOW INITIAL DOSAGES OF EACH NUTRIENT AND GRADUALLY WORK UP TO THEIR TARGET DOSAGES.

Avoid drinking Grapefruit Juice with any vitamins, minerals or drugs; as it may cause serious health problems.

Junk food, poor diet can promote cancer - Reuter News

RESTON, Va. -- The all-American junk food diet could be giving millions of Americans cancer, experts say. And that's in addition to obesity, heart disease and diabetes.

They say over-fed Americans -- 55 percent are overweight -- may be fat but they are not getting the proper nutrition and that cancer may result.

Poor diet could damage cells in much the same way radiation does, said Bruce Ames of the University of California at Berkeley.   Deficiency of vitamins, folic acid, B12, B6, C, or E, iron or zinc, and probably selenium mimics radiation in damaging DNA, 15 percent of Americans are deficient in vitamin C and 20 percent in vitamin E.
