You have a completed manuscript, but is it as helpful as possible to readers?
Some publishers provide indexing services. But more and more of them do not, especially small houses and university presses. I can produce an index organized in either of two ways: by name or by subject. The latter is far more complex than the former, including features such as "see" and "see also" cross-references.
